Human Resources Manager

The Town of Aylmer is a progressive and growing urban centre strategically positioned in the heart of Southwestern Ontario. Aylmer services a primary market of over 20,000 from the East Elgin County area and a secondary market of over 500,000. Aylmer is a growing community with a population of approximately 7,500. Community spirit and a rich history describes our hometown hallmark. A vibrant industrial park and unique commercial compliment the thriving residential base.

As a result of a retirement, the Town of Aylmer is seeking applications from experienced and qualified candidates for the position of Human Resources Manager. Reporting to the Treasurer, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and implementing municipal functions in the areas of Human Resources, Benefits Administration and Occupational Health and Safety. This includes management of all employee disability programs, recruitment, salary administration, pay equity maintenance and personnel policy review.

The Town of Aylmer is currently piloting a Compressed Work Week where administration staff have the option to work a standard (35) hour work week over the course of four (4) days instead of five (5).

The preferred candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Requires a college diploma or degree in Human Resources or related field, with CHRP/CHRL designation.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to use various office computer systems.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years relative experience.
  • General knowledge of municipal government practices, and sound knowledge of labour laws/provincial regulations relating to Human Resources, along with HR best practices.
  • Ability to prioritize work and ensure efficient use of time and completion of assignments as required, while working in a detail-oriented environment requiring a high level of accuracy.
  • People oriented, with leadership skills and the competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with public and all levels of staff.
  • Possess the ability to display tact and discretion during interactions with municipal staff, elected officials, user groups, and other government agencies.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work independently, within a team environment and positively impact others.
  • Recommends procedural and policy changes.

 

Salary Range (January 2022): $61,050.31-$74,165.00 (35 hrs/week)
