What You’ll Do
 
Reporting to the Total Compensation & Systems Manager, the Total Compensation & Systems Specialist provides expertise and operational support to the Total Compensation & Systems Division, along with broader departmental support related to corporate HR data and systems, and total compensation, particularly the Human Resources Information System (HRIS). Key responsibilities of this position include supporting the advancement, optimization, and on-going management of HR systems, developing, analyzing, and presenting corporate HR data reports and insights to support informed decision making, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across HR systems and assisting in maintaining and enhancing policies/procedures and business objectives related to HR systems and total compensation.  This position will provide strong continuity and subject matter expertise within the division regarding HR systems and total compensation data. The Specialist will offer advice, guidance, and technical support to HR Management and the broader department on HR systems and total compensation data. This position will also participate in and support cross-functional projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and process improvements.
 
Contract Duration: 15 months 
 
What We’re Looking For 
 
Education & Experience
Three-year post-secondary diploma in a related field
Three years of experience in a HR or HR systems role, preferably in a municipal environment
 
Skills & Abilities 
Demonstrated knowledge of design, development, and implementation of systems
Experience in data management including report design, producing, and analyzing data and presenting data
Experience in compensation, payroll, and benefit management 
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, including presentation skills Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally
Ability to identify issues and recommend creative and strategic solutions
Ability to interpret goals, objectives, and policies
Experience working with third-party service providers
Experience working in a unionized environment
High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment
Strong knowledge of applicable employment legislation
Strong project management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically excel
 
Assets
PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification
CHRP or CHRL designation
