Human Resources Generalist (1 year contract)
REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources
DEPARTMENT: Corporate Services
LOCATION: Initial placement – Burford Administration Office
Minimum Qualifications:
• Post-secondary education in Human Resources or related field
• Three years relevant work experience
• Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Proven coordination and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize
• Ability to apply relevant provincial and federal legislation with respect to employment and health & safety of workers, including ESA, Human Rights, OHSA, WSIA, Pension Benefits Act, Pay Equity, etc. and interpret internal policies, procedures, and collective agreements
• Demonstration of a high degree of initiative within a fast-paced team environment and ability to work a flexible work schedule when required
• Demonstrated tact and diplomacy skills and the ability to exercise discretion and judgment when handling confidential/sensitive/controversial information
• Excellent analytical, research, project management and problem solving skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Demonstrated safe work practices
Assets:
• Certified Human Resources Professional designation or working towards
• Experience supporting STD and LTD claims, attendance management and return to work programs including workplace accommodations.
Duties:
• Provide first line of contact for internal staff for day-to-day support.
• Coordinate recruitment and selection processes, including postings, interviews, assessments, reference checks, and job offers.
• Provide HR policy and procedure and collective agreement interpretation and application on a variety of inquiries to staff and managers, in accordance with County policy.
• Serve as a resource to managers and staff to address labour relations and other Human Resources issues effectively.
• Conduct market research as requested.
• Respond to external inquiries and coordinate the completion of external surveys.
• Other duties as assigned.
Hourly Rate Range – $36.44 – $42.90 (Job Grade 5) 35 hours per week
