Human Resources Administrative Assistant (1 Year Contract)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, or related field
  • Two years relevant work experience
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Proven coordination and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize
  • Ability to interpret and apply applicable legislation, including OHSA, WSIA, Human Rights, ESA, etc., and internal policies, procedures, and collective agreements
  • Demonstration of a high degree of initiative within a fast paced team environment and ability to work a flexible work schedule when required
  • Demonstrated tact and diplomacy skills and the ability to exercise discretion and judgment when handling confidential/sensitive/controversial information
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
  • Demonstrated safe work practices
  • Valid driver’s license and provision to own vehicle

 

Assets:

  • Human Resources experience within a municipal setting
  • Experience utilizing applicant tracking software and Human Resources Information System (HRIS)

 

Duties:

  • Coordinate and assist with recruitment and selection processes, including postings, scheduling interviews and assessments, reference checks, employment contracts, and orientations (payroll, benefits, OMERS information)
  • Support HRIS, including data entry and ensuring data integrity, and report creation
  • Coordination of corporate Computer Purchase program, coordinate corporate staff recognition for life events (births, deaths)
  • Provide HR policy and procedure informational assistance on a variety of inquiries to staff and managers, in accordance with County policy
  • Attend events to represent Human Resources division (i.e. job fairs, student orientation)
  • Provide administrative support to the Division, including management of HR records, preparation of JHSC and HR team meeting agendas and minutes, maintenance of HR information on intranet, scheduling meetings/interviews and associated set-up as required, general office duties, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Hourly Rate: $30.13 per hour (Job Grade 3)                                                35 hours per week
