Learning and Development Business Partner
Join Our Forward-Thinking Team
Bernardi Human Resource Law LLP is seeking a full-time Learning and Development Business Partner to join our diverse and talented team. But before we tell you about the job…
Allow us to introduce ourselves
We are an innovative, forward-thinking HR law firm and workplace training centre based in the Port Credit area of Mississauga. The Bernardi Centre, our workplace training business, offers training programs and services that help create positive, respectful and psychologically safe workplaces.
Our mission is important to us – we are committed to transforming the world of work and have established a reputation as thought leaders and agents of change.
But it’s not just what we do that’s different. How we do it is different as well. Quite simply, we have a fabulous workplace culture. We are optimistic, supportive and down-to-earth. We do great work and have fun doing it. We are also committed to excellence and are curious to learn and grow in everything we do.
Your opportunity
This is your opportunity to contribute to the success of our team and our clients, and to change workplaces.
There are three core functions to the role: program development, managing training logistics and helping promote our programs. Key accountabilities in each of the three functions include:
Program Development
Working with our team of lawyers and trainers, you will:
• develop new training programs and enhance existing ones using best practices in adult learning including backward design, learning goals, effective structure and storytelling
• create innovative training aids including case studies, quizzes/polls, videos, visual concepts and other activities that make learning “stick” and drive new behaviours; and
• make full use of technology and software advancements to enhance learning, including both in-person and online programs
Training Logistics
You will assist:
• in scheduling and arranging training programs and assembling materials and activities for the trainers
• as a producer for online training as needed
Training Promotion
Working with the Manager of Training and Marketing you will help promote the Bernardi Centre and will assist in preparing training agendas for proposals.
What it takes to do the job
To excel in this role, you should possess:
• a post-secondary diploma/degree in adult education and instructional design or a similar program; and
• a minimum of three years’ experience in a learning and development or similar role
Experience with HR-related workplace training such as leadership development, respect-in-the workplace or workplace culture would be an asset.
What you bring to the team
Those are just the basics. Your personal attributes are as important to us as your qualifications. We are seeking someone with:
• strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• the ability to coordinate multiple activities and schedules
• enthusiasm, curiosity and a love of learning
• a passion for helping people and organizations thrive
• a sense of humour (trust us on this one)
What we offer
This is a great opportunity to join a progressive, growing firm. We provide:
• interesting, high-quality work with great clients and staff
• the collegiality and lifestyle benefits of a small firm
• a great culture
We would love to hear from you
We want to learn about your unique talents and how they would help you succeed in this role. The best way to do that is to send your resume and cover letter to Jane Kilpatrick at jkilpatrick@hrlawyers.ca (hint: we love a good cover letter).
